  • ONION facts:
    ONION closes 1997 F-Y with a steady growth (about + 120% in sales revenues w.r.t 1996) and excellent figures about order portfolio, cash-flow. The Board of Directors wish to thank customers, suppliers and partners for yet another fine and fruitful year. And a special thank to the ONION staff without whom such an end-of-year result would not have been possible. An ambitious investment plan for 1998 shall secure ONION capabilities to keep abreast of the latest IT development and turn them into new products, services, processes and solutions for the market.

  • SPI and video-conference at work:
    ONION successfully co-ordinates the third EPIC public workshop, dedicated to Software Process Improvement in Banking, Insurance and Finance sectors. Over 50 delegates from Austria, Italy, Holland and Spain could tale advantage of the video-conference facilities and synchronous web browsing features provided by ONION Labs, to benefit of best practices and lessons learnt by major European organisations, such as: ABN Ambro Bank, Banco Ambrosiano Veneto, CECA, Istiservice, Memolux, SIA, etc.. Special emphasis was given on the Y2K problem and its challenges. Do not miss the next workshop on Embedded Systems, scheduled for February 10.

    ONION opens several Intranet/ Extranet services for a major industrial group with headquarters in Brescia. Services include: Commercial Forum, Who is Who, Funnel System, Help Desk, On-line Training and are intended, as a start, for business partners in Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden, UK, USA, Venezuela.

  • MIS Right-sizing:
    ONION completes a feasibility study for the introduction of the SAP ERP System in a multi-site multi-national manufacturing company.

  • Concurrent engineering:
    ONION completes a feasibility study for hardware/ software co-design together with a number of European excellence centres leaded by the University of Aachen.

  • DROPSA WWW:

  • Web quality of service:
    ONION completes a feasibility study for the quantitative assessment of WWW QoS, together with other R&D partners, including INRIA and LIUC.

  • Best Practices: The PI3 Project gets selected as a Reference Best Practice for Process Improvement Experiments in Europe. The case study report will follow in due course as part of the EU European Software and System Initiative, with which ONION has been involved from the outset.

  • Conference:
    ONION holds a speech on "Internet and Industrial Application" at the "Internet: futuro remoto o congiuntivo perfetto?" conference at University of Brescia.

  • Internetworking:
    ONION completes a WAN solution for multi-point fast exchange of large data files.

  • The stamp of quality on software: ONION co-ordinates efforts for the application of source code quality tools, resulting in the spotting out of a number of uncovered faults of a critical software applications currently installed in hundreds locations world-wide. The validity of the approach gets confirmed also by a benchmarking with similar experiences matured abroad by major companies.

    A standing ovation. ONION captures the attention of more than one hundred decision makers, interested on the various subjects of the Information Age illustrated by key-note speakers from the European Commission, from academy as well as from industry.

  • Intranet services:
    ONION signs a contract with an European-wide manufacturing company with headquarters in the surroundings of Milan. Management of information flows and Commercial Bulletin Board will be the challenges to meet by means of advanced technologies.
